My wedding day - What does it represent? The most memorable day of my life, and it was even better than my wildest dreams as I was given more than I ever wished. A soulmate that I found through e-Sports. A life companion, my best friend, my confidante, my lover, my colleague, my baby - he is all that. A celebration of two lives intertwining as one, as a new "family" is formed.
At first we both had doubts about sharing our wedding pictures. But after some thinking, we had no doubts that we want to share our pictures with the world of e-Sports that provided us with the chance to meet in the first place, and the fans who had been supporting us for all these years. We want to say thank you... For making this dream come true... For this wonderful... Awesome day!
Let's start the short summary from the beginning. After dating for 3 years, Manuel proposed to me, and we got engaged in August 2009. That was also a moment I would never forget: It seemed like only yesterday I saw him walking down to me from the Blizzcon stage, kneeled down on one knee, holding the ring in his trembling hands... And tears of happiness rolling down my cheeks as I said, "Yes." Fast forward another 6 months... And here we are, on a beautiful beach that we call paradise, promising to take care of each other forever, as our family and best friends celebrated with us. I never cried so many happy tears in one day... Thank you everyone.
The wedding plans started in January. We discussed and realized that we both wanted a small, simple, relaxed wedding, something that we can finish planning in a month or two. We don't have a lot of time to plan, because of busy tournament schedules. Also, it was important that our wedding does not clash with a tournament, because we also think it would be a pity if we were to miss a tournament.
We'd been to a beautiful island in Malaysia in 2007 for our summer holiday. We became excited as we thought of bringing our closest family and friends to this paradise to celebrate this special day with us. What's more relaxed than to have our wedding at a beach setting? We talked with the hotel resort on the island, and with our family, and the wedding plans became final in February, with all our air tickets booked. Everyone really looked forward to the big trip, to our wedding day.
A number of around 20 guests would be ideal for our idea of a small, intimate wedding. We ended up with 16 guests in the end. It's unfortunate that my family couldn't attend because of my grandma's sickness. They were in my heart nonetheless. The guests consisted of Manuel's family (his dad + girlfriend, Mom + her female cousin, three brothers and their partners), his best friend (they were best friends since the age of 3), and my three best friends who became my Brides' maids.
As a preview, as a start, we decided to post one dozen pictures from our wedding day:

Manuel's mom was the master of ceremony, and a very good one too. She wears a beautiful beaded dress with colours that matched the colours of the sea. Perfect dress for the perfect occasion and perfect location. :)

Manuel made an entrance with his three brothers (The Best Men). All three brothers got the same suit, and they look great. Manuel looked like a prince in his wedding suit. My prince charming... :)

Manuel on the stage, as he waited for my entrance...

The "Wedding March" song started... as my beautiful bridemaids lead the way for me. I was really nervous while I was waiting for the cue for my entrance! This is also the first moment that Manuel saw me in my wedding dress. (It's tradition that the groom don't see the bride's dress before the wedding.) My eyes started to well up as soon as I walked a few steps and saw Manuel and the guests waiting for me at the romantic beach wedding setting.

I joined Manuel on the stage. We both had tears in our eyes as we held hands and got seated. All of our guests prepared a special speech for us on stage, so they took turns to go on stage for their speech.

We love the speeches from every guests. It was very heart-warming... and it made me cry many times. It nearly made me look like a panda bride!

Umbrellas to shield us from the burning sun as we enjoyed the speeches from our guests. It was 34 degrees celcius.

Finally, our Dutch pastor ushered us into the water where he will marry us. It was a beautiful sight... and other tourists came to look as well.

YAY!! We got married!!

A group picture with all our lovely, fun-loving guests.

In the evening, we had our wedding dinner on the beach as well. Yes... With our bare feet feeling the soft, fine, white sand as we enjoy our barbeque seafood dinner together in a land far far away.

The beautiful beach as scenery... Great company, great music, great food... The best dinner we had ever eaten... :)
Hope you enjoyed these 12 pictures. Will try to post more pictures in my next blog.
Till then...
